In the Navy that is what you do yo get the leak to stop, till it can be shut down and then fixed.
This is how you put a soft patch on a piece of piping. It makes more sense to do a quick fix than to shut down the whole A/C system while the ship is underway. Even with A/C it can get up to 120 in the engine room, I would hate to see it without it. He should have taken the pipe insulation off before he put on the patch though.
thats what was left after taking the lagging off
so what it the jute rope being used for would seem that would make for a really iffy patch, I would have thought a heavy rubber patch would work better and last longer
